Myanmar Embassy was officially opened on the 4th of June 1996 following the establishment of diplomatic relations on the 20th of April 1995. The Embassy is situated at 329, Julius Jeppe Street, Waterkloof, Pretoria. Previously, it was initially opened at Park Street, Arcadia and then it was relocated to the following addresses: Amos Street, Colbyn; Murray Street, Brooklyn; and finally at 201, Leyds Street, Arcadia on the 1st of April 2002. The current Embassy's property was purchased by the Myanmar Government on the 12th of April 1997. Regular routines of Myanmar Embassy have been operating in this new Chancery since the 1st of April 2018. The first resident Ambassador of Myanmar to South Africa, U Hla Myint Oo was accredited on 16th June 1996. The Ambassador of Myanmar is currently also accredited to Mauritius, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria and Malawi.
