Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received Mr. Dionisio da Costa Babo Soares, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw on 12 June 2019 at 11 am during his official visit to Myanmar.
During the meeting, the State Counsellor and Timor-Leste Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister discussed cordially to promote existing bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, regional cooperation and application of Timor-Leste for ASEAN Membership.
Present at the meeting were U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation, Senior Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Joao Freitas de Camara, Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Myanmar and the members of the Timor-Leste delegation.
Ealier on the same day, U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation, also received Mr. Dionisio da Costa Babo Soares, separately at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed on various matters of the latest developments in Myanmar and Timor-Leste, promoting cooperation between the two countries in energy, trade and investment sectors as well as cooperation in international arena and application of Timor-Leste for ASEAN Membership.
Afterwards, U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation, hosted a luncheon in honour of Mr. Dionisio da Costa Babo Soares, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and the delegation at Hilton Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.
